Day 2 at Yellowstone started with a search for Christian's wallet that culminated with a trip to the police department. Fortunately, a Good Samaritan found Christian's wallet in the parking lot of the restaurant we had dinner at the night before and turned it in without anything missing.

From there we headed to the Grand Canyon at the Yellowstone. First stop: Artist Point overlook of the lower Yellowstone River falls.

Next, we hiked down Uncle Tom's Trail to the base of the falls.

The hike back up...382 steps.

Upper Yellowstone River Falls

From there, we headed to Hayden Valley to spot some wildlife: including Bison, Trumpet Swans, River Otters, Elk, Bald Eagles, and much more. This was Marina's favorite part of the day.

They were very vocal! Check out his tongue...

We ran into several Buffalo traffic jams.

The Mud Volcano area was full of sulfur mud pots and culdrons - Gavin's favorites.

Some were slight bubbles (like above) and others were forceful upheavals of liquid mud (like below).

The smell of sulfur was overwhelming.

On the drive back to West Yellowstone, we got an awesome view of the sun glowing red behind the wildfire smoke.
