After some schoolwork this morning, we headed out to Mt. Rushmore National Memorial.

Avenue of the Flags - one for each state.

Our state!

Checking it out upclose with the binoculars!

After Mt. Rushmore, we stopped for a little bouldering at Wrinkled Rock.

From there we went south to the Crazy Horse Memorial. Commissioned in 1949, this is all the further it has come. At least that's the attitude I had before I realized that the Mt. Rushmore Memorial's 4 Presidential heads will fit in Crazy Horse's head. They are working on his hand and the head of the horse next (you can see the outline of the head on the wall). It is enormous.

What the Crazy Horse Memorial will look like completed.

We saw tons of Native American artifacts and even some Lakota dancers performing hoop dancing.

Just as the dancers were finishing, it began to hail. Zero warning, no rain, just hail up to a quarter in size. When we got back to the camper, Roy was a little on edge. I can only imagine how loud it had been inside the camper. One piece of hail did crack our (already broken) skylight over the shower. Good thing we already have a new one waiting for us at home. Here's hoping that the roofing tape holds out for the rest of the trip. The temperature also quickly dropped to around 60.

After Marina finished her schoolwork, we headed out to dinner at Desperados in Hill City for some buffalo burgers.
