It's predicted to rain 3 days in a row, so I guess we just have to go see what we happen to be able to see.

Well, unfortunately, Mt. St. Helens decided not to reveal herself to us today. It a rainy and overcast drive to the Johnston Ridge Observatory. We figured we could at least watch the movies and do the stuff at the learning center there. The kids got to do complete the Junior Ranger Program with Ranger Sarah.

On our way back down, there was a quick break in the rain, so we decided to take a quick jaunt down the Boundary Trail from the Hummocks Trailhead to see if we could finally catch a glimpse of Mt. St. Helens.

Gavin climbing a hummock (mound left by the landslide and lahar mudflow after the 1980 eruption).

This is the best view we got of Mt. St. Helens in the distance before the rain arrived yet again. We had to make a mile mad dash back to the truck. Thank goodness for rain jackets and quick dry hiking pants!

One quick jump out for a picture with the sign and then back through the clouds on the way back.
