It was quite an interesting day of travel. We left Estes Park by way of Trail Ridge Road to go up in the mountains and cross over the Continental Divide. The road was narrow, very curvy, steep, and even gravel at some points. Very harrowing in an RV with a tow car! I took a lot of video that hopefully I can get up on here soon.
We then took US 40 across Colorado and into Utah. We stopped in the ski town of Steamboat Spings, CO for lunch. Very beautiful scenery along the way. We were definitely all alone on the highway at many times. We felt 'home on the range' as Christian kept singing and we even saw the antelope out at play! There were high wind advisories all day, which you can image is very interesting when you feel like you are driving a billboard. We weren't even able to do the speed limit most of the way, so it took us a little longer than anticipated. At one point, I laid down in the back to take a nap and when I woke up, I could see blue sky out of the roof vent...aaah! The wind was so crazy, it ripped the vent cover right off the roof! We got to the campground about 7:45. We then got everything set up and went out and grabbed a bite to eat. Tired, we went to bed as soon as we got back. We were rudely awakened about 1am when we realized that it was now super windy here. I was in fear that we were going to loose the awning, so Christian and I got up and waited for a brief break in the action to put it down. I have never seen wind to crazy!
